چکیده

We consider a cellular satellite system conceived to enhance the capabilities of the pan-European terrestrial system (GSM). This adopts EHF band and highly-inclined orbits. We present a preliminary assessment of system capacity based on asynchronous direct-sequence spreadspectrum multiple access (DS-SSMA). Performance is measured in terms of error probability achieved by If users simultaneously accessing the system with a given signalto-noise ratio.

The DS/SSMA systems using trellis coding with asymmetric PSK signal constellation

We analyze the performance of direct-sequence spread spectrum multiple access (DS/SSMA) systems, which use trellis coding with asymmetric phase shift keying (PSK) modulation. By designing the signal constellation to be asymmetric, we obtain a performance gain for the DS/SSMA system over the systems using the traditional symmetric signal constellation. Bit error probability analysis of the propo...

Performance of DS/SSMA systems using TCM under impulsive noise environment

In this paper, we investigate the effects of impulsive noise on the DS/SSMA systems using TCM. We obtain the probability of bit error bound of the systems, considering both impulsive noise and Rician fading unavoidable in mobile communication environments. It turns out that we can achieve some coding gain by using TCM under impulsive noise environment at moderate to high signal to noise ratio (...

Downlink Capacity Analysis for DS-CDMA Satellite Systems Accounting for On-Board Power Constraints

This paper presents a novel methodology for the analysis of the downlink of a DS-CDMA mobile satellite system which allows to evaluate the impact of the power limitations expected in a satellite-based access in terms of capacity. The methodology has been applied to compare an optimum power control, providing BER-driven thresholds, with a pure Signal-toInterference ratio (SIR)-based strategy. Re...

Performance analysis of a DS/SSMA unslotted ALOHA system with two user classes

In this paper, we propose a direct-sequence spread spectrum multiple access (DS/SSMA) unslotted ALOHA system with two user classes and analyze the throughput of the proposed system. Mobile stations (MSs) are divided into two classes according to its priority or traffic characteristics such as delay-intolerant and delay-tolerant. Different permission probabilities are assigned to each class so t...

Performance analysis of DS/SSMA unslotted ALOHA system with variable length data traffic

In this paper, we analyze the throughput of a directsequence spread spectrum multiple access (DS/SSMA) unslotted ALOHA system with variable length data traffic. The system is analyzed for two cases: 1) systems without channel load sensing protocol (CLSP) and 2) systems with CLSP. The bit-error probability and the throughput are obtained as a function of the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) during me...
